Dr. Yumi Matsuoka-Nakamura is an associate professor in cutaneous immunology at Osaka University. Her lab aims to explore the role of skin microbiome and pathogens in inflammatory skin diseases using omics approaches and animal models. Her long-term research goal is to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the formation and regulation of cutaneous microbiome ecological system. She earned her M.D. degree from University of Yamanashi, Japan in 2003 and Ph.D. degree from Chiba University, Japan in 2009. She received a postdoctoral training at University of Michigan Medical School from 2009-2013. Since 2015, she has been a board-certified dermatologist by The Japanese Dermatological Association. She was a recipient of 2020 LEO Foundation Award – Region Asia-Pacific.
